Not just a door. A statement in scale, design and presence.
Over 4 inches thick, up to 16 feet tall, locked into the frame at multiple points and built to almost any design you can imagine. The kind of entrance usually reserved for architect-designed homes, built for Canadian winters.
A next-level entrance.
Most homes have a 1¾ inch door with a latch and a deadbolt. The Vault door itself, the slab that swings open, is 4.13 inches (105 mm) thick: thermally broken aluminum with an insulated core, several times the weight of a standard door, locking into the frame at three points. This is a next-level door, and you can feel the difference the first time you close it.
1¾″ thick door slab
4.13″ thick door slab
the door itself, not the frame
Drawn to scale. Vault figures are the manufacturer’s published ratings for the door system. Standard door details describe a typical residential steel or fibreglass entry door; performance ratings vary by brand and are often not published. Weights are approximate for a 36″ × 80″ door.
Built bigger than anything at the door store.
Most entry doors sold in North America are 80 to 96 inches tall and under 2 inches thick. A Vault door can be built up to 16 feet tall and 6.5 feet wide, as one solid, insulated door hung on concealed German hinges.
You can feel the difference.
Photos can’t show it. Open and close a Vault door once and you’ll know it’s in a different class from anything at the door store.
Around 300 lb of door
Approx. 265–330 lb with its frame for a 36″ × 80″ door, versus about 60–100 lb for a typical steel or fibreglass door. Yet it swings smoothly on concealed German hinges.
The street goes quiet
Up to 35–40 dB of sound reduction. Traffic, wind and neighbours fade the moment it closes.
No drafts, no rattle
A central EPDM gasket and continuous seals pull the door tight into the frame, so there’s no whistle, no rattle and no cold spot in January.
Three points of steel
Turn the handle and hear the lock engage at the top, middle and bottom of the door. It closes like a vault.
Seventeen starting points. No limits.
Every style can be built as a single door, a double door, or with sidelights and a transom. Tap any style to see it larger.

Arched and traditional, in Vault aluminum.
Round tops, arched glass transoms and raised-panel looks, built in the same 4.13″ thermally broken aluminum as every Vault door, in any colour or wood-grain finish.

Sidelights & transoms
Add glass beside and above any door. Transoms can be straight or arched.
The styles above are just a starting point. Send us a photo, a sketch or a picture from a magazine and we can build almost any design to your exact size.
Built in layers. Built to last.
A Vault door is a solid insulated aluminum system, not a hollow panel. Every layer has a job.
- 6060-T66 aluminum frame and sashHigh-strength architectural alloy that will not warp, rot or swell.
- Insulated coreHigh-density foam and a fire-resistant phenolic board inside the door.
- EPDM weather sealsA central gasket and continuous seals keep out wind, water, dust and noise.
- Multi-point stainless lockingThe door locks into the frame at several points, not just one.
- Concealed German hingesA clean, flush look with nothing exposed on the outside.

Good to know before you choose smart access
- Factory installed only. The smart lock is built into the door at the factory, so it has to be chosen when you order. It can’t be added later.
- It always locks itself. The door locks automatically every time it closes, and there is no setting to keep it unlocked. Plan on using your face, fingerprint, code, card or phone each time you come in.
- Other smart locks won’t fit. The door is made for the GU system. Other brands, including common North American smart locks, are not compatible.
- 2-year warranty on the lock electronics. The rest of the door keeps its 10-year warranty. Service and parts come through Vault Built from the factory, not from local GU dealers.
The other smart locks shown are also factory installed and can’t be added later. Many lock every time the door closes, so ask us whether the model you like can be set to stay unlocked. Want a door you can leave unlocked during the day? Choose the 3-point keyed lock.
Inside a Vault door.
Open a whole wall to the outside.
A typical patio door is two vinyl panels about 6 feet wide. Vault lift & slide and folding doors open entire walls of glass onto your deck, patio or pool, with thermally broken aluminum frames and triple glazing for Canadian winters.

Lift & slide doors
Huge glass panels that glide open with one hand, then seal shut like a vault.
- Lifts, glides, then sealsTurn the handle and the panel lifts onto its rollers. Turn it back and it lowers onto the seals and locks tight.
- Panels up to about 10 ft tallOpenings well over 14 ft wide. One of ours spans 14 ft 9 in in a Saskatchewan home.
- German SIEGENIA hardwareSmooth, quiet operation for panels far heavier than a normal patio door.
- Multi-point lockingLocks at several points to pull the panel tight against its seals from top to bottom, on a heavy-duty performance sill built for traffic and weather.
- Flush, low or standard sillChoose a near-flat threshold for a seamless step outside.
- Aluminum or warm wood interiorTriple glazing, with U-factors down to 0.17 on the wood-interior version.

Folding (accordion) doors
Glass panels that fold and stack to the side, so the wall simply disappears.
- Opens the full widthPanels fold and stack neatly to one or both sides.
- As many panels as you needEach panel up to about 39 in wide and 83 in tall.
- Triple glazing availableU-factor 0.30 triple glazed, in slim black or any RAL colour.

Good to know
- Choose lift & slide for exposed walls. A folding door has more joints than a lift & slide door, so for the tightest winter seal on a wall that takes the wind, go with lift & slide.
- Folding doors shine under cover. They are perfect for a covered patio, sunroom, pool house or three-season room.
- No ultra-slim sliders. The very thin-frame sliding systems popular in California don’t seal well enough for our winters, so we don’t sell them.
- Custom quoted. Every sliding and folding door is built to your opening. Ordering it with your windows or entry door shares the shipping.
