What is the difference between sunscreen and blackout roller shades?

Sunscreen roller shades have a woven mesh fabric with small openings (typically 1-5% openness factor) that filter UV rays while maintaining your view of the outdoors. Blackout roller shades use an opaque fabric that blocks 100% of light, ideal for bedrooms and media rooms. Semi-blackout options fall in between, blocking most light while allowing a soft ambient glow.

How wide can custom roller shades be made?

Our custom roller shades can be manufactured up to 118 inches (300 cm) wide in a single panel, making them suitable for large picture windows and sliding glass doors. For wider openings, multiple shades can be installed side by side with minimal gap between them.

Are motorized roller shades worth it?

Motorized roller shades offer significant convenience, especially for hard-to-reach windows, large or heavy shades, and smart home integration. They eliminate dangling cords (improving child safety), enable automated scheduling, and can be grouped to operate multiple shades simultaneously. They are particularly popular in Canadian homes with large windows.

Do roller shades provide UV protection?

Yes, all our roller shades provide UV protection. Sunscreen fabrics block 94-99% of harmful UV rays while maintaining visibility. Blackout and semi-blackout fabrics block 100% of UV. This protects your furniture, flooring, and artwork from sun damage while keeping your home comfortable year-round.
