2. Take the smallest of the three measurements and record it.

HEIGHT

1. Measure the exact height (top to bottom) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places: left, centre, and right.
2. Take the largest of the three measurements and record it.

DO NOT MAKE ANY DEDUCTIONS
We will make the necessary factory adjustments for a perfect fit.

OUTSIDE MOUNT

For maximum light blockage and a bold design statement mounted on the wall above the frame.

WIDTH

1. Start at the outer edge of the left hand moulding and measure to the outer edge of the right hand moulding.
2. Add up to an additional 4 inches total to the width for extra coverage on each side.

HEIGHT

1. Start at the top edge of the top moulding and measure to the bottom edge of the bottom moulding.

This is the finished size we will manufacture.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Measure each window individually – even identical-looking windows may vary in size.

Use a steel tape measure for accuracy. Cloth tapes stretch and give inaccurate readings.

Measure to the nearest 1/8 of an inch. Precision matters for a professional fit.

Double-check all measurements before ordering. Custom blinds are non-returnable.

Ensure minimum 2″ depth inside the window frame for inside mount installations.

Check for obstructions (handles, cranks) that could interfere with blind operation.

WHY ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS MATTER

Accurate measurements are the foundation of perfectly fitted custom blinds. Because every blind is manufactured to your exact specifications, precise measurements ensure your window coverings look professional, operate smoothly, and provide optimal light control and privacy. A measurement error of even 1/4 inch can result in light gaps or a blind that does not fit the window frame.

We recommend using a steel tape measure rather than a cloth tape for the most accurate results. Measure each window individually, even if they appear identical, as window openings in Canadian homes can vary by small amounts due to settling and construction tolerances. Always measure in inches to the nearest 1/8 inch.

If you are unsure about your measurements or have unusually shaped windows, contact us and we will guide you through the process. Our team has helped thousands of Canadian homeowners measure for custom blinds including bay windows, skylights, and oversized openings.
